Cool man. There's also The Draft side project. That band is cool too. That one features Chris Willard. Then the other singer, Chuck Ragan, has done solo stuff, too. But back to Hot Water's Exister. "Drag My Body" is fucking intense as hell. So much emotion. I really see Exister as a "Caution Part II." I mean, I fucking love it, but I really fell in love with The New What's Next ... it really punched me in the face so many times. I wouldn't say I was disappointed by Exister, seeing as they hadn't made an album in years and I'm glad they're back, but I was hoping for a continuation of that experimental sound in The New What Next. But yah, The New What Next was very experimental for them. Very atmospheric, no, extremely atmospheric. That's what many people were bothered by. It wasn't straight up emotional punk anymore. But FUCK. The tracks on that album are just brutally awesome. FUCK. The fucking riff in "All Heads Down" is so intense. And "My Little Monkey Wrench"?! Jesus. Fucking amazing.
And the opener? Poison!?! OOOOOOH MYYYYYYY GOOOOOOOOOD! The imagery.
I could waste away with politics ... or drown myself with wine, confine myself to solitude and inject poison into my mind. Meanwhile ..... outside ..... everything still grows .... wild like fire and fury, while I wish aloooooone .... YOU KNOW THAT I CAN FEEL THE POISON IN MY MIIIIIND. YOU KNOW THAT I CAN FEEL THE VENOM DEEP INSIIIIDE. I feel like I'm in an endless niiiiiight. LIKE I AM FALLING THROUGH THE RESTLESS SKYYYYYYYYYY
I could find myself in paradise. Walk on endless shores. Cut my feet so drastically before I beg for more. Meanwhile, in front of me, under every stone. Lies a thousand reasons. With a thousand rhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyymes ...
Yah. I like Hot Water haha
So how about that California album?? Actually, I think that many people's disappointment about "California" is how I feel about "Exister." Like many of you blink guys, you wanted that "untitled" experimental sound and, instead, they went back. Hot Water basically did that, too. And that makes me sad.
But we'll see what happens. It's funny how differently you can view music in a similar genre.
I was hanging on by a little thread.
Just minutes before I was on a mountain.
I screamed "I can see all."
The ground broke from the sound.
It was all built on nothing.
Caution: the solid ground that you are on will slide from under you.
