Travis Barker has had some time to digest everything that happened during Blink-182’s reunion tour. It was a three-month roller-coaster ride that featured the highest of highs — sold-out venues, blissed-out crowds, high-flying drum solos — and, with the shocking death of Barker’s friend Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein, the absolute lowest of lows.

So last week, when MTV News spoke to him about his upcoming solo album, we asked for his reactions on the Blink tour and how he coped with Goldstein’s death while in the midst of it all.

“No doubt, it was the best tour of our lives, ever. The most fun I’ve ever had on a Blink tour with Mark and Tom,” Barker said. “[I] couldn’t have got through the lowest of lows on that tour without Mark and Tom, so it was a blessing in disguise. … I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else when any of the bad news or the unfortunate things happened this summer. I couldn’t have been in a better place than with two of my best friends.”

Blink-182 canceled three shows in the wake of Goldstein’s death and held a moment of silence for him during their set. Barker said he’ll never forget that night — or any night of the tour, for that matter — and, like all things in life, the page must be turned. So with the events of this past summer behind him, he’s moving ahead with his solo record — and still squeezing in the occasional studio session with Hoppus and DeLonge too.

“The rest of the year, I’m gonna finish my record, I’m gonna work with Mark and Tom here and there,” he said. “My goal is to have [the solo record] ship by March or April and do a small tour too. In a perfect world, there will be a video before the end of the year too. I’m concentrating on the music side of things now.”

While the status of Blink-182’s much-discussed “Up All Night” — the new song they didn’t play on their just-wrapped reunion tour — remains unclear, drummerTravis Barker isn’t letting that stop him from talking up another new Blink tune, one that will appear on his upcoming solo record.

“There’s some stuff on my record that’s not going to have a bunch of guitars, that are just straight-up hip hop records. Everything’s going be real different. It’s going to be really well-rounded,” he told MTV News on Wednesday. “We got a new Blink song on there, I think I’m going to do something with Chester Bennington from Linkin Park. Hopefully a guest appearance from Slash, I’m doing his big fundraiser that happens this month. I think there’s going to be a collaboration with [Kanye West's touring DJ] A-Track, so it’s gonna be really in all directions.”

Barker didn’t have many details about that new Blink tune — mostly because the band hasn’t written it yet — but he’s clear about one thing: The song most definitely isn’t “Up All Night.” Blink have other plans for that.

“No, ‘Up All Night’ will have its own home, and it won’t be on my record. That will continue to be part of a new Blink record or will be released through Blink182.com or something, it’s going to be a surprise,” Barker said. “The new song that we record for my record is just going to be something from scratch, and just us doing our thing.”

Apparently, Travis Barker doesn’t sleep. At all. Which is how he’s able to keep cranking out remixes while simultaneously working on a new Blink-182 record, his own solo album, and rehearsing for an upcoming show with none other than Slash (a November 22 benefit for the Los Angeles Youth Network). And that’s not even getting into his business ventures, or his role as a rock-and-roll dad.

“Yeah, I wake up at 6,” he laughed. “I’m a busy man, I guess.”

Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker took a detour on the band’s tour to stop by the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Georgia, greet patients and thank the docs who saved his life.

“I’m here to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who took care of me after the accident,” Travis said in a statement. “I was sort of unconscious the last time I was here, and I felt like I owed them a big ‘thank you.’”

Barker was transported to the Burn Center after surviving a plane crash with fellow musician DJ AM in September 2008. The men were the only survivors, and both suffered severe burns as a result of the accident.

“This was a great opportunity for our staff and our patients to see someone who is truly a success story,” said Dr. R. Fred Mullins helped treat Barker’s wounds. “Travis was gracious with his time today, and his presence was a nice surprise and boost for everyone here.”

During his visit, Travis greeted patients, signed autographs, and thanked the doctors. After his visit, Barker tweeted, “Just leaving the JMS burn center here in GA. Amazing talented people over there, angels is what I like to call them.” He then added, “Wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for them. Glad I was able to go by and say thank u. I’ll never forget them or what they did for me.”

Drummer stops by Georgia hospital to say ‘thank you’ to the people who treated him last year.

On Wednesday, during a tour stop in Atlanta with blink-182, Travis Barker stopped by the Joseph M. Still Burn Center, which treated him last September after he survived a plane crash with his friend DJ AM, who passed away in August. The drummer wanted to thank the doctors who helped save his life.

“I’m here to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who took care of me after the accident,” he said in a statement to “Extra.” “I was sort of unconscious the last time I was here, and I felt like I owed them a big ‘thank you.’ ”

Barker also met with patients who are currently being treated at the center and signed autographs for them. In photos from his visit, Barker is seen showing a doctor the arm that was burned and chatting with a patient.
