Backstage With Blink-182: Watch Tom DeLonge Live From His Dressing Room

Blink-182’s Tom DeLonge knows every good interview starts at a urinal, so that’s precisely where he begins his tour of his dressing room backstage at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The trio — DeLonge, singer/bassist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker — hit up the city’s legendary venue this weekend with Fall Out Boy and gave the latter’s bassist Pete Wentz a haircut he’ll always remember. “This is the death of the emo swoosh,” Wentz tweeted after becoming “more aerodynamic.”

Check out Blink-182’s Rock Show: photos of the band onstage and off.

But before Blink hit the stage and busted out the clippers, DeLonge lounged with pals, limbered up and listened to the Cure. See for yourself, by watching the footage he was kind enough to shoot by himself with a Flip video camera, above. And if you’re looking for shots from the band’s stage show, don’t miss our gallery from their opening night gig in Vegas.

Guitar Center Interview With Tom

Sep 01, 2009 in Tom DeLonge

Frontman, guitarist, producer, songwriter, businessman—these are some of the many hats that musician Tom DeLonge has worn throughout his past dozen-plus years in the music scene, whether as the on-stage co-lead to bassist Mark Hoppus in platinum pop-punk powerhouse Blink-182 or as the sole frontman of the more experimental, alternative rock act Angels and Airwaves. Or perhaps it’s as the head of Macbeth Shoes or the visionary behind the social networking website Modlife. No matter which angle he’s viewed from, DeLonge’s years in both the underground and mainstream circuits have found him delivering interesting and important perspectives on the ever-changing entertainment industry, specifically in terms of tastes, technologies and traditions (more…)

HitFix Interviews Tom

Aug 24, 2009 in Tom DeLonge, blink-182

From HitFix.com:

Reunited and it feels so good. Sure, Peaches & Herb sang the line first, but it equally applies to the members of Blink-182. After a five-year, somewhat acrimonious, hiatus, the perpetually adolescent punk band decided to reunite for an amphitheater tour this summer. Hitfix caught up with vocalist/guitarist Tom DeLonge just before the start of the outing, which concludes Oct. 4 at New York’s Madison Square Garden (although there are rumors of European dates to follow).

As famous for their high-school level hijinks on stage as such hits as “What’s My Age Again,” “All the Small Things” and “The Rock Show,” DeLonge, bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker have been garnering some of the biggest audiences-and the best reviews-of their career this summer. DeLonge discussed anxiety, when we’ll get a new Blink album, and, of all things, insurance with Hitfix.

The Aquarian Interview With Tom

Interview With Tom DeLonge of blink-182: Older, But Still Not Grown Up

Four years had passed since Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker shared a stage together, but at this year’s Grammy Awards, the members of blink-182 stood together and announced they’d be playing music together again. The trio that had acrimoniously disbanded following the abrupt resignation of DeLonge began communicating again in the wake of a plane accident involving Barker. A breakup became a reunion.

Of course, all three had moved on to different projects in the interim, most notably Angels & Airwaves, headed by DeLonge and +44, featuring Hoppus and Barker. But Hoppus has done production work for a myriad of bands, Barker has been working on hip-hop projects with DJ AM, and DeLonge has been something of an investor-creative director in Macbeth, a shoe company, and Modlife, a web venture for bands.

Now, with all their previous commitments on the side, the band few thought would tour again have embarked on a jaunt throughout the U.S. with Weezer and Taking Back Sunday, in what has quickly become one of the best-selling tours in the worst economy in decades. DeLonge explains.

Tom and Jimmy’s Tour Diary: Practice Makes Perfect

Jul 20, 2009 in Tom DeLonge

From Macbeth.com:

Once again, another update from the pre-Blink tour production rehearsals. Everything is looking so amazing, the band did a run through of the set with full lights and production, which took it to a whole new level. Travis has got a little something up his sleeve that is going to blow your mind during the set. I snapped this picture of Tom while they were playing, he also gave a quote to go along with it- “I look good in smoke” -Tom D. Things are getting exciting, we are doing a family and friends show tonight at a secret location, invite only type shit. We take off for Vegas this week for the first show of the tour, booyah!Time for me to head out to the venue, sitting in a towel isn’t doing me any good.  -Jimmy T.
