Blink-182 Only Playing One Show in North America in 2010 Because Recording New Album, Mark Says

Mark tweeted:

Humans: NOBODY said the announcement was a new song. We’re only playing 1 show in North America this yr cuz we’re recording the new album.

Hopefully Mark will clear things up further when he’s on KROQ tomorrow.

when you say BIG ANNOUNCEMENT of course were gonna think new song. why would we think a big announcement is about ONE show?

  • chris

because its blink 182s only show in north america of the entire year. thats a pretty big deal. Especially 2 headline this pretty big festival is a big deal. Blinks so big almost everything they do requires a “big” announcement.

  • Ben

Does Mark not realize that hyping up a huge announcement that isn’t prevalent to most of blink’s fanbase is going to cause an uproar?

You tweet to the whole world that theres going to be this BIG announcement, and it’s one show.

He just disappointed every single blink fan in the world that doesn’t live in california.

    What was he expecting?

  • Epbjorn

Yea u right I live in south africa, here marks tweeting to the entire world about somthing big!!! Oh well at least im on my way to reading in august! Too amped to watch my fav band blink headline! Although would have been nicer to give the fans atleast 1 new song, coz the hype was insane bt also useless!

He says they’ll be “recording”. I’m trying not to follow blink so I don’t get disappointed. Hopefully they’ll play a new song for the European Tour.

  • socalpunk – fucking dissapointed

what the fuck! seriously mark, this is not a big deal at all. one fucking show in Cali when 95% of your fans live somewhere else? that’s not big for a lot of people. all of us blink fans have waited literally years for new material, and it’s been almost a year since they started saying we’d hear some. how are we supposed to just say “well…maybe next time” everytime? waiting at midnight for up all night, checking everyday on youtube for a live performance of a new song, the octopus thing, going into the studio in spring 09, then of course writing on tour, then AVA’s here so wait till january 10, we promise we’ll write on the europe tour, etc. it’s just more and more bullshit everytime — i swear to god blink-182 is my life and i am a fan till the day i die and even after, but mark tom and travis need to buckle the fuck down and get us the album they promised too long ago. i mean we haven’t seen any previews of songs or anything, literally, nothing new. honestly it’s hard to believe they’re back together sometimes, just with nothing ever happening. for once, i’d really love to hear “big blink-182 news” is coming, and then big news actually comes

Dude you guys need to relax!! You guy are viewing everything as “us” vs. “them” yes it is a big announcement for “us” Blink fans. Don’t you want your favorite band to succeed and play the biggest shows all over the world regardless of where you live? Who cares if you don’t live in CA, I think all Blink fans should be happy that “our” favorite band is headlining a huge show!! So Mark was not wrong at all for tweeting the BIG announcement nor does he owe us an explantation and or an apology! Just relax guys it’s going to be a long ride!

  • Tyler

lol yes, that is a huge huge huge show and its rad and all, but there was NO reason to keep that secretive and hype it up as much as he did. we’ve been waiting for up all night for over a year now, why wouldn’t we expect new music? mark definitely handled the situation wrong.

  • dxguy2001

Maybe he wasn’t allowed to talk about it in details at that point. Why would he take ratings away from KROQ by announcing to us fans that they are playing that show? I guess in hindsight he should have said nothing at all?

“He just disappointed every single blink fan in the world that doesn’t live in california.”

I’m not disappointed. And anyone who is upset that the announcement wasn’t a new song has no one to blame but themselves, least of all Mark, — or Tom or Travis, for that matter. The post said there was a big announcement, and blink’s only show for 2010 in the U.S. is pretty big, regardless of where “95% of [their] fans” live. The idea of a new song was built up by fans, so there’s where you should turn any blame to.

  • david182

thats why living in CA is the best!! the rest of the world…well who cares ha!

  • Blink fan

Motherfucker, all of the band Blink 182, made us suckers, again just for the money. Fuck you Blink 182.
Do not you shall comply with the fans from other
countries are only show in North America and Europe.
They could at least have thrown the “Up All Night
you promised you would be ready before the summer North American tour…

Anyone who thought it’d be a new single was deluding themselves. This site did a terrific job deducing what the news was, and I know other sites did as well. Any real fan already knew what the announcement was. We all want a new song, but getting mad at Mark for something he didn’t say is rediculous.

    ^^^^^^
    THIS!!

    End of discussion!!

I’m not exactly sure why people are mad. It was just speculation that it might possibly be a blink song. It was just a bad coincidence that Gavin Rossdale released a song that day. Having said that, I do feel as though we keep getting jerked around with all this “mystery” about everything. Just be straight and to the point with info. When us fans hear about a BIG SUPER SECRET ANNOUNCEMENT, of course we are going to all hope/assume its something amazing like “Up All Night”, or a release date for the new album, etc..But to make an announcement about that show(however cool it is), under the guise that it’s going to something epic, just feels like we were being teased. I’m not exactly mad at Mark, but I feel he should have been less mysterious about it…something like that

  • Tyler

    i definitely agree with jaker182

Everyone is making a big deal over nothing realy, just think they could have not done anything they could have stayed apart just, quit complaining and be paitient, besides havnt they already said that there will be a single released on Travis’s Solo record???
