We had the chance to ask the guys from the Blinkumentary some questions. Here’s what they said.
How many people are involved in the making of the Blinkumentary?
There are 2 of us. Haven and Matt
You guys said on your facebook page that you have 1800 gigs of footage… and that’s just the tour so far! How do you guys aim to fit all of that in one film? Could we see a double disc DVD?
Well, that number has grown to over 3000 gigs. Its is actually a lot of footage to sort thru. Matt has been attacking it to find out what works where etc. We have been shooting new material as well. As far as aiming to fit it all in the film, we are taking the best moments and shots and whittling down into the story we are telling. When we get closer to a final product we will see if it warrants a double disc. We want to give you a lot so that could be a possibility.
How is the film going to be distributed? Online (digital), Physical copies or even cinema?
All of what you mentioned are possibilities for the distribution. We want this film to be able to reach all that want to view it.
You’re getting a lot of international support for the film, we’ve seen places like Italy, Brazil and even Japan helping the cause on twitter and facebook, how does this make you feel, and will it be translated with subtitles?
It feels like Wang Chung is throwing us a surprise party in giant hot tub filled with beef broth (or vegetable stock for the vegetarians out there). The support is rad. We love that people all over are supporting this project. We have gotten suggestions and ideas of what people want to see in it. It’s been really interactive thru our twitter and facebook accounts. Once the film is edited we’ll strive to get it translated for all to enjoy.
What’s it like being in the studio with Blink, how’s the attitude and the environment like?
They are headed in the studio in beginning of next year. Check back and we will let you know. But shooting with guys individually has been great and the attitude on the tour was awesome.
Where and when did you get the idea to start doing the film?
Matt and I were in a bar in LA and we got talking about working together on the project. The next day we sat down in a more proper setting and hashed out the idea for The Blinkumentary.
What was the best/funniest moment that occurred during the filming?
Wow! Tough one! It’s hard to pin one as the top. It has been one of the best and fun times in our lives during the production of The Blinkumentary. This band generates humor in such strong way, well you guys already know that, as far as one of the best that we can share would be… We were in Vegas right at the beginning of the tour, the first show. We were shooting in the dressing rooms and there was this feeling back there man that just was so electric. Blink was about to change and alter their history in moments and we were capturing it. Cut to the walk to the stage. Cut to Dumpweed! Cut to the fans! History changed. Quite epic to part of it!
How far back does the Blinkumentary start?
It starts at the time they made the Grammy announcement about their reunion. But the story talks about the origin of the band and its history all the way up to today.
